ExGEO Sprint Units carry the gauntlet when it comes to ALS medications for ground units. Through forward, progressive medicine and aggressive protocols tailored to austere and inhospitable environments, we are able to sustain severely injured or ill patients until sufficient transport can be arranged. Utilizing packable monitors that deliver proper 12-lead ECG, video laryngoscopy, and the potential for Point Of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), ExGEO paramedics can make informed treatment decisions no matter the distance from a hospital or next level of care. ExGEO utilizes a novel approach to maintaining whole blood, banked products, or any combination therein for indefinite duration.
Never out of reach with online medical direction, our teams come equipped with a suite of communications equipment. Outside of standard fire radios, vehicles are equipped with permanently affixed Starlink setups utilizing the Starmount systems mounting array and Iridium GO! Hotspots when hiking in to a casualty.
Anyone that has spent time around the Ford Super Duty pickup trucks can readily attest to their durability and capability off-road. We took things a step further and pulled pages from the Desert Racing and Overland/Expedition community playbooks. Looking to the Overland and Expeditionary travel groups, we were guided on development of robust electrical systems, on-board storage and organization, and the little creature comforts to keep the truck and the crew functioning at their best. This allows us to maintain medications and blood products in fridge/freezer combos designed for use by the WHO for exactly this purpose. All of these things mean more weight and less stability. Here we turn to the unsung hero of the desert racing community- the Chase Truck. Using advanced techniques alongside suspension, braking and engine component upgrades, we can now reach places stock 4×4 vehicles struggle to attain… and we can do it very quickly.
Derek is a critical care paramedic with experience as a US Navy Corpsman, 911 and offshore paramedic and nearly a decade in pharmaceutical research. After leaving the corporate world of clinical trials, he took on his passion in emergency medicine. Seeing a need for more advanced medicine where many other organizations cut corners, Derek created ExGEO, a play on the Latin meaning of “The way forward.”
Compiling experience from multiple industries and experts in the field, he has helped to create a platform that allows medicine to thrive in austere and inhospitable environments. While working toward a Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration he aided the DoD and the Joint IED task force out of Fort Irwin, CA in outfitting units for casualty collection and management in the combat environment.
A Tampa, FL resident with strong ties to the Utah Valley, he moves forward with the support of his wife.
